Our Story
Our name, Sakabayashi, comes from the tradition of displaying cedar leaf balls in front of sake breweries to signal the brewing of fresh sake. The direct translation of Sakabayashi is ‘Sake Forest’, inspired by the cedar trees of Mount Miwa, where the God of Sake lives.
Our restaurant is proud to be the first U.S. outpost of Sugidama, a beloved Japanese food establishment with the mission of offering delicious sushi and other specialties at great prices, aiming to fill the hearts of a sake god.
